About Us
Richmond, Virginia area residents Tim and Jane Mitchell started Mitchell Medical with their son, Ed and his Chinese wife, Dana.
Tim and Jane witnessed the COVID-19 outbreak early. They had visited their son’s home in Guangzhou for the January holidays as the virus encroached upon that South China megacity.
Their return flights canceled, Dana amazingly managed to find her in-laws a route back to America in February.
Ed and Dana, after two months of isolation, packed up their Guangzhou apartment and bought tickets to fly with their little boys to live in Richmond. Take off was fine but during an airport layover they were told they could no longer fly through Tokyo and all other flights from China were blocked indefinitely.
To make the best of being stuck in China, Ed and Dana are using their Chinese connections to find trustworthy manufacturers who can produce appropriate medical gear to help healthcare facilities in Central Virginia.
Both of Ed’s grandmothers are now secluded in memory care communities in Henrico County.
